In Ekstep, Learning Science work spans areas of literacy and numeracy to understand what children need to learn, how they learn.

Learning Science work includes the creation of:

1. Domain models: Models including concept maps, teaching methods, learning paths

2. Content Model: Metrics and models tagging content for analytics

3. Language Model: Model of language elements including complexity, cross-language vocabulary

Our work is driven by experts, teachers and field practitioners. It is validated by data from the field.


Discussions to be conducted by experts, practitioners, teachers and parents on topics pertinent to learning:

1. What and how children learn?
- The best approach to literacy learning is to first ensure whole language comprehension before teaching akshara.

2. What are difficulty areas for children?
- In numeracy, grouping or carry over is an area children find difficult.

3. What are ways to help them understand better?
- Discuss and review frameworks of what to teach, how to teach and in what sequence.

4. Review of the literacy concept map. Is this map appropriate to teach English as second language? Is there a better method?
- It translates existing pedagogies, curriculum and textbooks into frameworks that can be used within and outside of EkStep.
